Varieties Descriptions
All all garlic offered are hardnecks. Softnecks are usually better suited to more mild climates. (Most garlic packaged and offered for sale in stores is softneck and grown in California or imported from China). Customers have told us they need to use at least twice as much softneck garlic as hardneck garlic to achieve the same level of flavor.
Georgia Crystal - Very popular variety! Beautiful fat bulbs with large purple stripped cloves, long storing, robust flavor when raw, smooth and buttery when roasted. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average diameter bulbs.
Montana Giant - Largest average clove size of all garlic with medium hot taste. Great for roasting! 3 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average diameter bulbs.
Music - A popular variety for consistent year-after-year production of white bulbs with a hint of pink on bulb wrappers. Sweet, medium flavor. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2" average diameter bulbs.
Chesnok Red - Nicely colored bulbs peel easily. Strong lingering taste, retains flavor well when cooking or roasting. 5 cloves average per bulb, 1.25" average diameter bulb
Italian Hardneck - Hot and zesty flavor. Challenging to grow but a little goes a long way. Great for salsa! 5 cloves average per bulb, 1" average bulb diameter.
Killarney Red - Rocambole garlic. Strong, hot and spicy. Grows healthy uniform sized bulbs. Bulb wrappers have lots of purple, are thin, and flake off easily. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average bulb diameter.
Purple Glazer - This hardneck, glazed purple stripe variety has gorgeous purple-tinged, somewhat metallic-colored skins. It has deliciously sweet, strong garlic flavor. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2" average bulb diameter.
Armenian - Porcelain garlic. Large cloves have an intense flavor when eaten raw and keeps a rich full bodied flavor when baked. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average bulb diameter.
German Porcelain (German Extra Hardy) - Easy to peel cloves. White wrappers have delicate purple stripes. Great taste without the heat. 5 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average bulb diameter.
Romanian Red - Bulbs are fat, round and colorful, encasing tasty strong smelling cloves. 4 cloves average per bulb, 2.5" average bulb diameter.
